Hello, I’m Dr. Stephanie Schull, a philosophy professor dedicated to teaching civil rights, feminism, psychology, logic, and epistemology. My academic journey has always intersected with issues of justice and equity, leading me to deeply explore the division of labor within the home. This exploration is not just academic for me; it’s personal. My own experiences with my domestic partner, even without children or elders to care for, highlighted the significant challenges in achieving a fair distribution of household responsibilities. I quickly realized that this struggle is widespread and affects many people.

Inventing Kegelbell: My commitment to improving the lives of women doesn’t stop at unpaid care work. I also invented Kegelbell, a revolutionary device designed to strengthen women’s pelvic floor muscles. Kegelbell saves women time by providing a more effective and efficient way to perform kegel exercise, getting better results faster and safer than other options for addressing pelvic muscle weakness. This invention aligns with my broader mission to empower women and help them lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.
The Journey of Understanding: For the past ten years, I have immersed myself in researching and consulting with experts in the field of unpaid care work. The findings have been both extensive and revealing, particularly studies that link unacknowledged and unshared domestic labor to decreased sex drive in women. This research struck a chord with me, especially as I observed that women often undertake more unpaid work at home, even when they outearn their husbands.
This realization fueled my passion to create a solution. One way to tackle this issue is through a valuation assessment of everyone’s contributions within the household. By objectively measuring and valuing these contributions, we can dismantle the harmful "you stay home all day..." rationalizations that often lead to the exploitation of unpaid care work. This work is frequently invisible to those who choose not to see it, dismissed as a "labor of love" that cannot be quantified. Yet, we routinely calculate the value of male contributions and make financial decisions based on whether we can afford external help with children, sick relatives, or household tasks.
A Personal Story: I had a deeply personal experience that further highlighted these issues. My family was informed that my grandmother might pass away soon alone, I took her into my home. In the midst of launching a new medical device company and with no prior caregiving experience, I provided 24-hour care for my grandmother. This included middle-of-the-night vigilance and physically demanding tasks like changing diapers and moving her, as she was incapacitated. An aunt did fly out to help, which brought much needed relief. Still, the work was largely unacknowledged and while it was acceptable due to the short duration, it made me keenly aware of the burdens such responsibilities can place on caregivers over time, especially without acknowledgment or financial support.
Our Mission: Our goal is to end this blindness and amnesia. We will generate real data and dollar values to reveal what is fair and what is out of balance. With this information, families can negotiate responsibilities and contributions based on objective data, rather than biases and misconceptions. Our mission is to bring clarity and fairness to the often-overlooked work that keeps households running smoothly.
Who We Help: This service is designed to support:
- Couples without children or family to take care of: Helping them navigate and fairly distribute household duties.
- Siblings taking care of a parent or grandparent: Making the work visible and appreciated.
- Stay-at-home parents: Highlighting the intense work it entails and ensuring it’s valued.
- Working parents: Assisting in creating a fairer distribution of work to balance professional and domestic responsibilities.
Join Us: Join us in this journey to acknowledge and value every contribution, ensuring a more balanced and equitable home life for all. By making the invisible visible, we can foster understanding, appreciation, and fairness in every household.
